It all began with a man and his van
RSV Van Hire had very humble beginnings back in 2006, which was when Richard Soper set out on his own with a second hand van and a 500-square-metre site on Hedon Road in Hull. It wasn’t long at all before his first staff member, Trevor Edgar joined Richard and remains with the company to this day and the growing team that is RSV.
A further six second hand vans were added to the fleet, only for two of them to be destroyed in an arson attack. Never known to be discouraged, Richard continued on his mission to rapidly grow the business by investing wisely, keeping costs to a minimum and only ever delivering outstanding customer service.
Upgrading our premises… twice
In 2007, RSV moved to an 800-square-metre site on Chamberlain Business Park and purchased an additional fourteen used vans. Two years after that, the team moved again to Spyvee Street, taking over a 1,000-square-metre site and purchasing many more used and new vans, taking the fleet to over 80 vehicles.
More room to grow
With a site now twice the size of the original and an unstoppable fleet of vehicles, RSV Plastics was set up and four new members of staff were welcomed into the team. That wasn’t the end of the expansion though, as RSV relocated yet again to a one-acre site at 115 Cleveland Street – more than eight times the size of our original base.
Where we are now?
With a fleet of over 150 vans and the capability to supply an extensive range of building plastics and ancillary products to tradespeople as well as the general public, RSV certainly has come a long way in just a few short years. We now employee an experienced and dedicated team, which includes a Branch Manager, Finance Manager and Purchasing Manager, as well as many dedicated sales, admin and warehouse staff and drivers.
